John Hunter and 18th Century surgeon, a pioneer in transplant, vascular,
and trauma surgery as well as in pathology, physiology and anatomy. One
of Hunter’s many accomplishments was a successful transplant which is
part of the crest of the banner. He transplanted a tooth onto the heard
of a rooster. The tooth continued to grow and took the shape of a horn
(or antler as described by some) it is known as the Antlers on the cock’s
head. |
